Description
Rotarians worked with partner organizations Bring Me a Book, which offers parents a non-credit course to help them use technology to help their children, and Bookelicisous, an online resource that helps children find books that are of interest to them. The project address the concern that 80% of 4th graders living in poverty read below proficient level. Rotary clubs purchased 5 books for each of 100 children, who selected their own book titles Parents were trained in how to offer reading assistance at home to their children. The ability to have tangible books at home through a pandemic lockdown was significant and kept children reading!
