Rotary India Literacy Mission ( RILM ) is established with the primary objective of making India fully Literate by 2030 through T-E-A-C-H mission. T-Teacher Support, E- E- Learning, A- Adult Literacy , C- Child Development and H- Happy School . Of the five elements of the T-E-A-C-H mission, Adult Literacy is of great concern as India has around 180 million adult illiterates beyond the school-going age. Unless we make these 180 million adults literate , India will never achieve 100 % literacy in the foreseeable future. Hence RILM has launched Adult Literacy using the following two models:
Disha Model - Each one, teach one - school children teach one adult illiterate at home.
Vidya Model - Each one, teach many - Here, we appoint a volunteer teacher to teach a group of 20-25 adult illiterates in a center.
This is a nationwide program of RILM being adopted by Rotarians across the country.
